Apples

We wrote the apple graph in our math journals.

There were 4 green apples, 16 red apples, and 1 yellow apple.

On Friday we celebrated John Chapman's birthday. Aka "Johnny Appleseed". We had a lot of fun with reading and math too! We learned how apples grow and everyone in our class brought an apple. We graphed our apples on a chart and then went outside to eat them. It was a fun afternoon. These are some of the poems we are practicing for reading fluency:

I'm a little apple, short and round.
I make a crunchy, munchy sound.
If you bite into me, you will see,
I'm delicious as can be!

Way up high in the apple tree
Two red apples smiled at me!
I shook that tree as hard as I could,
Down came the apples
Mmmm......were they good!

Finally!

s

For my new students and their families:
I have finally posted some pictures of the things we've been doing in our classroom this year. I'll try to update our blog monthly.
We have been busy getting to know each other, learning, and having fun! We have been lucky to have a student teacher until mid-October. Ms. Kylee Larsen has been doing an awesome job!

We have been practicing our reading fluency by learning poems. We learned some new poems about pineapple and even got to have a taste of pineapple and pineapple juice.
"Pineapple, Pineapple tastes so fine! Pineapple, Pineapple want some of mine?"

In math we have been learning basic addition facts. Ms. Larsen has been teaching how to use the 10 frame and make addition sentences for the number 10. We have practiced this by using our own counters and ten frames and writing these problems in our math journals.
